ABOUT Ji young yun
Ji Young Yun is a South Korean accessory designer and artist based in London. She holds an MA in Fashion from the Royal College of Art. Focusing primarily on bags and headwear. Her practice explores sculptural forms, material experimentation, and transformable structures, through which she continues to develop her own design language.
Her work often begins with personal experiences and observations of the body, developing through drawing, performance, and material experimentation into three-dimensional forms. Expansion and transformation are recurring themes throughout her practice. Rather than creating a single fixed form, she explores structures and methods of connection that allow the wearer to choose and transform how an accessory takes shape and is worn.
Performance is also an important part of her practice. In her RCA graduate project, Self-Determination, she presented a live performance in which transformable accessories evolved through their interaction with the body. Moving beyond the accessory as a finished object, the project explored it as a medium that can transform through movement and over time, extending her practice across both accessory design and performance art.
Working hands-on with materials including latex, leather, and textiles, Yun translates experimental ideas into physical accessories. Her practice explores the possibilities between sculptural expression and functional design, creating accessories that leave space for the wearer’s choice and identity.
